My yoga journey started in 2007. At the time I was working as a freelance artist and waiting tables in a high pace restaurant in the middle of Times Square in NYC. I was searching for something to help me reduce my stress and anxiety levels and alleviate my chronic back pain that I developed as a result of incorrectly lifting and carrying heavy trays at my restaurant job.
After my first class, I knew I had come across something life changing. I felt so refreshed, and recharged, a feeling that I hadn’t had in so long. I worked on developing a consistent practice, and experienced tremendous amount of change overall. My back and shoulder pain became more manageable, I began eating healthier foods, I had more energy, and my anxiety even started to disappear little by little. As time went on, the benefits of the yoga increased. However, this journey has been anything but easy. I have found it to be quite challenging, especially in the beginning. I had to face a lot of fears, resistance, and even work through tremendous amounts of pain. It was as if yoga was chipping away at the person I thought I was, revealing to me the person I truly am.
